Charnwood Community Football Shield. The Winning Team!

Well Done To East Goscote Youth!!!

A team of youths from East Goscote triumphed this summer, when police officers staged the first Charnwood Community Shield competition at the Soar Valley Leisure Centre, in Mountsorrel, to give the youths something to do over the Summer Holidays.
East Goscote’s team went on to win the tournament, beating Birstall 4-1 in the final. The winners went on to play a side made up of police officers and blew them away, beating them 4-2.
All the players were invited to take part on Saturday, July26th, after meeting officers during patrols in Birstall, Quorn, Barrow, East Goscote, Syston, Sileby, Mountsorrel, Anstey, Thurmaston and Rothley.
Birstall beat bobby PC Gordon Doudie, who organised the tournament, thanked Charnwood Borough Council’s anti-social behaviour officer Wendy Brown for providing cash to fund the competition, the leisure centre staff for hosting it and AB Wallace Trophies, of Loughborough, for providing the cups.
All fourteen of our lads that took part in the competition will enjoy a day out paintballing courtesy of Charnwood Borough Council.

Petwise Mobile Petting Zoo.
Thank you to every one for coming and what a brilliant day it was!
103 children attended in total. Sarah Green and her assistant put a fantastic programme together which the children really enjoyed. The children had a chance first to look at the animals, and were then divided into two groups each sitting on safety mats with one instructor, the animals were then shown to them, and their country of origin, habitat, and food were all explained. Most of them were then passed around for the children to stroke or hold. The children were told to remember all they had been taught as there would be a question time, after they had all given their hands a good wash. Each child then answered a question and received a sweet. The session ended with Ferret racing on the grass outside the Village Hall which caused much excitement.

What a fantastic day!! 82 Children attended. Mr Eddie Nunnan as Mr Potato demonstrated Circus skills of Juggling, Diablo, Stilt Walking and Plate Spinning etc. to the children. The children then had plenty of time to try these skills for themselves assisted by their parent, Grandparent and Mr Potato. This was a very noisy and happy time with all the children, and adults trying each item in turn. The children were then able to demonstrate their new skills to everyone. Thank you to everyone for coming.
